We arrived in Bruges at 3.40. A Mercedes taxi took us to our hotel, The Notre Dame. After entering through a heavy timber door to the reception area, we paid our account of 220 euros each for five nights including breakfast, then proceeded to scale two flights of steep stairs to our western facing room. A spacious twin with louvre blinds and two push out windows. After sprucing up, we checked out menues in windows as we took a leisurely walk around a few blocks, passing a couple of famous nearby churches and the town square only two small blocks away. We ate Flemish Stew, washed down with two full strength beers each at a popular restaurant a few doors from our abode. Food was 'mothers milk' to say the least. Struck up an interesting conversation with a visiting English couple. Presently JUDITH is snoring her head off. I will take my drugs and hope to feel a,little better tomorrow. We shall look forward to exploring this warm old town tomorrow.
